Hi,
Oil pump issues:
1989 175hp
The pump pumps from the aux tank to the engine tank past the upper level about 34/~1" then stops. Cycle the key (Off/On) and it starts pumping again and may or may not stop.
While key ZON and pumping I pulled the connector on the oil float in the engine tank and it was still pumping. So either the oil float tells the pump to STOP or it defaults to pump oil if there is a issue in the system???
Checked the oil float unit with a ohm meter and it seams like it is switching it also trips the alarm when the float is at the bottom. Seams like its working but not 100% sure.
What about the oil control module? Any way of checking this or if somebody has had this issue what was the fix?
Anyone have a old module or float I could try?
