  • F50T model Tilt and trim motor

Our 50Hp 4 Stroke 2000 model tilt mechanism is playing up. First it started to raise slowly, then very slowly. We replaced the battery and checked the ground connections but it was still slow to raise but fine to go down. Today it got slower and slower and finally stopped and won't go up or down.

The motor body is badly corroded, i.e. no paint anywhere yet the rest of the mechanism and engine has perfect paint.

Can we just undo the Allen headed bolts that secure the motor to the pump mechanism to inspect it?

    Are these motors serviceable?

Thanks. Turns out that the motor was full of rusty water, lots of iron filings stuck on the magnets and the brushes seized up. The bottom seal was no good so that was probably the source of the water entry. We will try to repair it and see what happens.
