  • 1986??? 20hp fuel pump Diaphragm

I have what I presume is a late 1980s Yamaha 20hp outboard and the Diaphragm in the petrol pump has torn, so needs replacing.
    The engines ID plate reads : YAMAHA 20BM, 653 S 005697.
how old is it, where was it made and can I still get this part?

    Thanks for your help

    Andrew Mcfarlane.

We don't have any information or parts listing on that model, the only 20hp that was sold here in USA was in 1996 and 1997.

      Thanks for that information.
are there any other forums for yamaha that I could get the info from?
or is there any other markings that would show the engines age/origin?

It is just a mikuni fuel pump that is used there seems to be 2 different ones one with the Mylar diaphram (newer ) or one with the rubber type (older) . but the bolt patten is the same .

my guess is you have the one with the rubber diaphram but I have inter changed them both and they will still work it is only a basic fuel pump .

Just get a new pump and fit ,take your old one in to your yammy dealer and get one .
