yamaha autolube 1989 60HP 2 green wires?

There are 2 green wires coming out of the motor 1 is green/red striped. and is connected to a (red wire) sensor at the back of the motor.(i think overheat sensor) but i also noticed that my motor is not recharging the battery. and i checked the 2 green wires, and there is 12 volt coming out of it, when the motor is running.

The total length of the cable is 20 Feet. can i connect this directly to the battery?? or is it something else?

Battery is charged through battery cables from engine to battery and no other wires, do not connect any other wires to battery. Check alternator, voltage regulator and battery cables.
