Last fall when I pulled my boat I noticed a leak. Over the winter I replaced one of the trim caps and its seals. I put it back on the boat today but it doesn't have enough power to go up. It will go down and if its tilted up enough it will go up slightly since there is less weight on it. When I had it up I checked the fluid, its up to the top of the reservoir however it looks like it has lots of little air bubbles. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this thing working again?

Manually moving it up and down may help work the air out
operating the pump electrically when low on fluid just makes foamComment

the wobbelator plate is what puts the wobble in a ducks butt
without any other information as to WHAT trim unit is being discussed its all I could come up with.
there are at least 8 trim units used by Yamaha over the years and models.Comment

I looked right next to the johnson rod but couldnt find the wobblinator plate oh well. Anyway its 98 250 hp.Comment

Are you topping off the reservoir with ALL the rams EXTENDED (and the engine raising and sitting the mechainical linkage?
Also, make sure the "manual release" screw, part #34, starboard side (that releases your engine to go down should there be an issue is tight. If its slightly loose, the pump won't build up pressure and raise the engine..

Well no good on the bleeding by manually pumping up and down. So I took the T-n-t back off, plopped in on my bench and started poking around. I pretty sure I found the problem. The small snap ring on the manual release valve came loose so the valve wasn't closing properly. Unfortunately the parts arent looking too good so I'll have to wait for the new parts to come in before I can claim victory.Comment

I was able to find the parts locally for $20. Seems like its working much better-the rams are moving much faster than before. I'll put it on the boat tomorrow and test it out. Thanks for the help.Comment

Just a side note, if the original clip was stainless steel and exposed to the water, I'd make sure I replaced that clip with the same material.
You don't want it rusting out on you if its not the same, not plated, etc...Scott
