  • Oil transfer and trim angle

I'm working my way through an oil transfer problem with my 2004 150TXRC. Both level sensors (engine and remote tank) check out and wiring harness connections check good up to the CDI connectors (continuity to motor, continuity to sensor contacts).

With the engine down, the oil pump runs using the emergency switch. When engine tank sensor float moves to the alarm level, the buzzer sounds and the pump runs. If I jumper the low level pins (not alarm level) at the CDI connector, the oil pump does not kick in.

I think I've eliminated eveything but the CDI and possibly a faulty trim angle signal. Trim guage is showing the engine is full down and the graph moves with the sender, but still no automatic oil transfer with the key on. Might trim angle still be the problem and if so, how to check that circuit out? I'm thinking the trim angle signal is OK since the pump kicks in when the alarm level is reached, but figured I'd post this for any other suggestions.

    John
