1995 C25MLHT Broken shift rod lever

I was changing my water pump yesterday evening. While trying to turn the shift rod connector (which apparently was siezed to the shift rod) the shift rod lever broke. My question is how do it get to the shift rod lever to replace the part?

remove the powerhead,replace broken parts.

was afraid of that but I probably won't be after this lol... Are you familiar with the removal of the power head on that or similar model? Is there a manual you could recommend? looks like maybe 4 bolts in the bottom cowling and removing fuel line possibly the carb. I'm guessing after that you just lift it out.

remove all the powerhead mounting bolts.
disconnect the shift interlock.
disconnect the shift linkage.
disconnect the throttle linkage.

disconnect fuel lines and ground wires.
remove the powerhead.
