  • 2010 F 50HP Tiller tachometer hook up

How hard to hook up the Yamaha tachometer inside the tiller handle. I have power tilt and trim. The tach is only few years old, so I know I won't use all the wires, just want to be able to see RPM. Thanks

    Easy peasy.

I use cheap digital tach off amazon tyewrapped to the tiller. Only one wire to run and battery in tach lasts a long time. $20 and a few tye wraps and you are all set.

I suspect that he is talking about the electrical connections that are within a Yamaha multifunction tiller handle. Which provide power and ground to a tachometer plus the tachometer signal itself.

Oh..I didn't know they were in the handle, thought the plug for tach was inside the hood!

Yes Boscoe 99, your correct, inside the tiller. Took the lower cover off tiller handle today and it appears that the connection is covered by throttle an shift cables which are attached to a metal plate. I don't want to mess with that stuff if the plug is not there. Not as simple as I first thought.

It is incredibly complicated. Might need an A&P mechanic with an IA to do the job.

Remove the cover. Connect four bullet connectors to a harness. Reinstall the cover. Connect the harness to a tachometer.
