  • Help with code 28 F115

Hi! I have a Yamaha F115 AET 2004. It is stuck with the code 28 which I know is the shift position sensor. It runs rough at idle and very bad in gear.
I have heard that if you start the engine with let's say a bad or misaligned switch the engine will limit the RPMs and also run on 2 cylinders?

My question is if I replace the switch and get everything to work. Do I have to connect the engine to a computer to clear the code 28, or will it disappear after the faulty switch replacement?

Because if the switch is replaced and the engine still runs on 2 cylinders because the code is not cleared out. It is really hard to diagnose some other possible causes such as bad fuel injectors, igniters etc.
