FYI I found a video of someone separating the extension from the gear case. It came right off. I still can't get mine off.

you have not answered the question of what year is this motor.

also have you disconnected the shift shaft somewhere?
those #6 and 13 may hold things snug if corrosion has set in,
but it moves even a little bit you should be able to keep working it back and forth.
spray some penatrating oil in areas you think the problem is.

But if you have not disconnected the shift shaft that could be the problem.
    also those driveshaft bushings

There is "another" short bolt #5, at the front/above the leading edge.

    Is that out? .
Yep, that's out too. I can separate the two units by about 1/8" only and the join is really tight -- that's why I think it's either pressed on or maybe salt corroded the two pieces together

Look on the other side of gearcase. I don't sea it on the side you photographed. And maybe one looking down from the top....
Thanks. I looked and there's nothing on the other side or the top that could be unscrewed.

Thanks. #5 is loose & not screwed into the 5" extension. I can't remove it all the way out without removing the propeller shaft. I think the unit is pressed on & I need some kind of tool to separate them.

I think the long bolt in his pic lowered down to the prop is that #5.

possibly removing the #15 clip and then digging out the 2 #14 bushings if they are binding up the shaft is the fix.

I am not seeing the things Keith is talking about in the parts break down, but there has to be an extension for the shift shaft somewhere

what year was this motor produced?

Yep good point. It's the 5" extension making it a 20" shaft.

Here's the lower unit. It's comprised of two parts. The gear case (not the box as I called it) and the upper portion -- see the break just above the gear oil fill port. I can't separate the two units to get at the drive shaft bushing.
