  • F225 - Operating temp question

Hello all - I've got a 2002 F225 TURA on a GW 228 Seafarer running out of Pleasant Bay down on Cape Cod (That's Orleans and Chatham).

I had an overheating alarm going off only at high (4800+) rpm. Long story regarding the fix (it was multiple issues) but I am pretty sure I've solved that issue.

After doing the repairs, I took the boat out and ran it wide open 5500+ rpm for 20+ minutes. I then throttled back into neutral, popped the cowling off and while idling, used a laser temp gun to check temps. Starboard side was 156, Port was 170 (both measured from the top with the flywheel cover off).

    My questions:
    1. is the delta in temps on one side vs the other normal and/or acceptable?
    2. are the temps readings ok for the scenario I describe? Assuming they are as the engine didn't overheat.
    3. if the delta in the temps isn't normal I'm guessing I might have a constricted waterflow in the port side. Suggestions on what it is? How do I clear the constriction.

    Thanks

    Jim
