One of my 2008 Yamaha 250TXR four stroke engines occasionally triggers the overheat alarm at idle only. I shut the engine down and restart it immediately, the alarm is off and the temperature shows normal. Any suggestions? Thanks Ward
start with the water pump,tstats and pressure control valve.
while the gearcase is off have the ex stack inspected with a bore scope.
while your symptoms may indicate routine maint its also a symptom of ex stack failure.
