    Fuel Management Meter installation question

    Good morning.

    I am planning to install a Yamaha FMM on my boat with 2003 twin Honda 200. My questions are:

    1. Can fuel flow senders be installed before fuel filters? I believe Yamaha recommends them to be installed between fuel filter and primer bulb/motor. What is the down side of installing them before the filters?

    2. My Honda's are fuel injected...I have read from another forum that Yamaha FMM does not handle fuel injected motors well. Is this true?

    3. On the fuel flow sender side of the wire harness, I see 2 other terminals. One is black wire and the other is red/white. I assume the black wire is for ground but what is the red/white for? Are these both for fuel sensor/indicator for the fuel tank? If I am not using this function, what is the best way to water proof these extra wires on the harness?

    4. Lastly, I have a Furuno Navnet GPS unit. Is this compatible with the fuel managment meter to be connected? It requires NMEA 0183 output from a GPS unit. Where is this output source on Furuno GPS? Where is the best place to get this signal lead for GPS (6Y5-85721-F0)?

    Installing flow sensor after fuel filter is the recommended location for best readings.
    Fuel injection should not be an issue, the meter is just reading fuel flow.
    The other two wires are for water detection sensor on fuel/water filter, leave disconnected if no water sensors are installed.
    Look at owners manual on GPS for wire to use as output lead.

      Tach & Speedo wires

      Good morning,

      I am finally installing my FMM unit on my boat and have a couple more questions for you.

      1. Green & G/W wires are to be connected to "STBD" and "PORT" DIGITAL tachometer. My instrument panels have analog tachometer. Is there any way to connect analog tachometer to FMM?

      2. I am going to connect "coupler B" to my Navnet GPS source.

      a. Do I just tape up the Blue wire that is supposed to be connected to digital speedometer?

      b. What is the part number for the connector that goes on to "coupler B". I have it as 6Y5-85721-F0 but it is not coming up on part search by #.

        The green and G/W wires connect to tach signal wires coming from each keyswitch, should be grey wire on honda.
        Gps signal lead is 6Y5-85721-F0-00.

          round fuel meter

          I purchased through ebay a fuel meter (ditgital) with flow sensor. I have a Key Largo 196 w/ 115 4stroke yamaha.

          No installation instructions came with either the meter or flow sensor. Can any one out there help by sending instruction / diagram how to install.

                GPS and cable 6Y5-85721-FO/00

                And 'possible to have the wiring diagram of the instrument (6Y5-83570-S5-00 SPEED Year 2007) - wire and GPS (NMEA0183)
                The GAudge (the second Hole) have a small in 3-pin male connector is to connect this?

                    6Y501 Fuel Flow sensor wiring

                    Hello, I have a 6Y501 flow sensor with the plug removed. There are three wires Black, Orange and Purple. I am assuming the Purple is the signal wire and the Orange is the 12V supply with the Black earth.
                    Does anyone know if this is the correct allocation of the wires inputs/outputs.
                    So far I have not been able to read a signal and I can not be sure I have the wiring correct or maybe the sensor is faulty, although it is new.
