Your advice on our starting problem was on the mark. We checked the butterfly valves in the carbs and they werent fully closing. We closed them manually and it fired right up. We now have to figure how to adjust the linkage. Thanks again.

Now that you are a bonafide Yamaha mechanic "wannabe" like me, you really should get yourself a factory Yamaha service manual. They are proud of them, but it will pay for itself in short order.
I have never had to adjust my choke linkage, but I bet the manual could help you there. You can order one from boats.net (nice folks) or go to yamahapubs.com.
