    Hello
I am having trouble starting yamaha 2001 SX 225 TURZ bought new in 2001,motor cranks but will not run .
Only runs with external fuel source.external source is sprayed down throttle body and the motor will run untill fuel is exhausted. Vst tank can be drained and will refill, applied external 12 volt to high pressure pump and it runs.External fuel is from 140 gallon tank on board.depress scrader valve and fuel is expelled.
    Thank You

Sounds like your getting fuel to the rail but you may want to check rail pressure at that schrader valve.

Has the engine been sitting for sometime (a little more history would help)?

Hope your your using Pre-mix spray thru the intake and NOT STARTER FLUID..

      Thanks for response
fuel is gas from VST tank so it is allready premixed, have used over 600 gallons of fuel this summer. Boat is used 4 times a week, never had this problem before.

Your need to check the fuel rail pressure to rule out the pumps..

If you have the proper pressure, sounds like something electrical not
        activating the injectors.

It's obviously NOT getting fuel, why requires some testing...

If you run it four times a week the fuel system is probably pretty clean.
Wonder what the service manual suggests for testing those injectors? Isn't there some sort of driver?

            Hello
I have no method to check pulse from the ECM to fuel injectors, there is a flash tester but the motor needs to be running. I will pull the coupling on the fuel injector and check the resistance on the fuel injector with an ohmmeter. I think the ECM unit may be the issue but its my understanding that it is rare for this to fail.If there is a way to test the ECM unit without the motor running That would be great

Be a good time for Rodbolt to weigh in. Where did he go?

                  well lets see.
at key on the injectors and the fuel pump have 12v supplied via the main relay.
the pulser coils trigger spark and injection.
as the motor will run on a fuel spray I would assume the pulsers are working.
so do we have rail pressure?
do we have 12v to the injectors?

do we have an ECU ground path for the injectors?

it is easy to test. will require a multimeter with an Hz setting and some MAR-PAPER-CL-IP Yamaha tools.

yep it is that stupidly simple.

                    That's, ^^^, what I posted earlier.

                    No leak down test??

Lets see if he asks what the MAR-Paper-CL-IP tool is? that one is stupig;y simiple after I looked for it!

                        SX225 TURZ start issue

                        Hello
Thanks for information I will check all that has been indicated, pulling boat tomorrow so that I may test indicated circuits, picked up meter to check fuel rail pressure . Even though i can hear high pressure motor run maybe its not working optimaly. I would prefer to install new fuel pump instead of CDI.
                        Thank You
