  • Yamaha Analog Tach

I have a 2000 F115TLRY, and the digital tach has been dead since I bought it a few years ago. I have installed an analog tach, and it's working fine. However, I'm not sure how to hook up the 2 warning indicator lights.

The digital tach that came out just had a square plug with 2 wires (one green with white stripe, and one green with red stripe).

The analog that I just installed has 4 wires.
    1. Yellow (with a brownish-red dot) coming straight out of the tach to a bullet connector.
    2. Brown (with black mark) coming out of the tach to the square connector.
    3. Red (with black mark) also coming out of the tach to the square connector.
    4. Pink (with brownish-red dot) coming from the square connector out to a bullet connector.

Any help is greatly appreciated. These are both Yamaha Tachs, so I would have thought the coloring scheme would be the same. However, the digital one that came out is probably 17 years old.

Yellow wire is for 12 volts from the key switch panel for power to the lights.

Red wire is for low oil pressure warning from the motor.

Brown wire is for over temperature warning from the motor.

Pink wire is for the sender input to the trim meter.

With a 2005 and later Yam four stroke it would look like this:
