Was removing a brass main jet on a Yamaha generator and it broke in pieces. Seemed like it was soft. Ethanol fuel related?

Seems doubtful. But I am no chemist. -
if there was corrosion sticking the jet due to water in fuel, ethanol could have pulled water from the air.
but ethanol itself does not attack brass as far as I knowComment

I worked on a commercial Yamaha powered pressure washer that wouldn't start. (clogged carb from sitting).
The carb was a high end unit (Mikuni maybe, been awhile) and pulling the brass main jet was a bear.
Had to clamp the carb in a vise, grind down the SIDES of the exact sized screwdriver. Soaked in PB Blaster.
W/O using a hand held impact, it did come loose with all the force downwards and turning force I could muster.. The jet itself didn't seem softer than normal, just installed SUPER TIGHT...
*Agreed with below posts, I doubt ethanol had anything to do with it.
I pull jets (similar very varnished up) all the time and that Yamaha was DEFINITELY the hardest to remove (and there wasn't any visible varnish on the threads)...
I suspect someone in the Yamaha assembly plant is "very heavy" with the screwdriver when assembling...
