  • F-150 change in production, trim/tilt

I noticed Yamaha is using a different trim/tilt unit on the F150XA. My 2005 has the Showa unit, while my neighbor's has one similar to what is used on the
bigger V-6 engines. Metal reservoir, etc.... Maybe that will solve the leaking o-ring issues.

Yamaha changed from the Showa style PTT assembly beginning with an F150TLR/TXR having a production date of April 2011.

I am not aware of any particular problem with the Showa unit. It is still in use on other Yamaha models. The V6 VF205LA for instance.

Evinrude uses a Showa PTT assembly for a number of their models. All the way up to 300 HP I believe.

what he is talking about is the issue of the orings where the pump assy bolts to the body.
corrosion builds and the orings leak and by that time the long bolt simply wont move.

O-ring starts with a dribble. Give it a month and that crap is leaking like a screen door on a submarine...

Newer unit was painted black too. I think it is a 2014 model F150.
