  • uneven fuel consumption

    lx / sx 150 txry's

at about 3900 rpm's the port engine it burning indicated 9.6 gph and stbd is 11.2 gph.

spark plug inspection did not appear to reveal anything. spark plugs cleaned and swapped from engine to engine. fuel consumption disparity appeared to stay put.

both engines start well, run / idle smooth.
Is it possible just a flow scan / indicator fault?

Your guidance and direction, as always, is greatly appreciated.
If its got teats or tires, you bound to have trouble with it....

Swap the connectors to the fuel flow transducers and see what happens.

Do we have a procedure for link and sync?
I am pretty sure I may be due for that. That being neglected, could that develop into this as a result?

I am not seeing something within the motor resulting is more than a 15% spread between the two motors as causing the issue. Not without you seeing, smelling, hearing, feeling, tasting something going on with a motor.

I have the Yamaha FSM somewhere around this joint. I'll look for the procedure.

You suggested to swap fuel transducer connectors... I do remember having to replace a connector on a fuel transducer due to corrosion(it was inop), would a poor electrical connection cause an errant reading like that?

May be better yet, I could probably swap fuel hoses from the fuel water filter assy and that would include the inline fuel transducer. Would that be better than the wiring swap? Thus I would be supplying the port engine with the stbd fuel supply and vice versa.

nothing in it but a coil and a paddle wheel.
it generates a 5V square wave.
the faster it spins the faster the frequency of said 5V square wave.
that is how this system monitors fuel flow.

Thank you folks, I have been pulled in alternative directions and have not had much opportunity to look at this fault yet.

I have not fueled a rod holder in at least a year and it was over 26 months prior to that, so I am getting better pstephens46. What was really fun is the time when I returned from the bait shack to find my crew had fueled the pump out fitting.
