        If you're plugging it into a Yamaha harness they're color coded, just match up the wires. If you have something other than the Yamaha harness here's a breakdown of the wires:

        Grey = Overheat Sensors from the motor
        White/Blue Striped = Fueltank Quantity Sender
        Black = Ground
        Yellow = 12v w/Ignition ON
        Blue = Nav Lights+
        Red = 12v Continuous (Fused under cowling)
        Green = No Charge from Engine - Warning Light

        But without the Yamaha harness it would be a major headache.

          Hey! I have an yamaha multi function speedo too. It has a white/blue striped wire and a solid white wire. What is the solid white wire for?

              I have twin 97 yamaha 150's and would like to know if any one has wiring diagrams for the fuel management gauge, and the multi function speedo/tach.
              I Would also like to know if there are fuses in line that would prevent them from being displayed in either the cowling or in other areas of the connection. Any informatin would be greatly appreciated, as Yamaha's suggestion was to buy new wiring harnesses to receive the diagrams!!
              Thank You

                I am replacing the digital speedometer on my '99 vmax 150. Unfortunately, the wires to the old speedo were disconnected when I bought the boat, so I don't have them to go by.

                I believe that I have the Yamaha harness still under the dash, but not all the colors seem to match the meter. Under dash, I see open connectors for red, yellow, green and brown. The meter has red, yellow, blue, white and 2 black wires.

                Does anyone have suggestions as to which wires I should match? I don't see any open connectors for black, but there are a few I can tie into. I assume they are all grounds.

                Any help will be greatly appreciated!

                Thanks,
                Greg

                  I sent you the installation guide. The wires for speedo should be yellow,blue,black and red coming from Ignition switch just match colors. Connect the white speedo wire to pink wire going to fuel tank sender.

                    I'd appreciate a copy of the installation guide for the guages.

                    I'm interested in interfacing GPS to system and how the speedomoeter gets data without GPS among other things.

                      I have a 98 115 non oil injected outboard and a set of LCD gauges from a 1997 150. Does anyone have a wiring diagram showing the interconnections between the speedometer and tachometer and motor. I have the Yamaha harnesses and see that most of the wires match up via color but I have a few that don't. Thanks for any help.

                        I'm in need of the diagram as well. I have most of it sorted out. I'm wondering what the plain white wire is for. I know the white/blue stripe is fuel level.

                        Also there are 2 black wires that tie into a black/yellow stripe. I'm assuming these are both ground wires and there are two for redundancy's sake.

                        also is it normal to run the back-light lamps for these gauges all the time? I think mine are tied to ignition-on. Just wanted to see what was the norm.

                        BTW this is for an '89 225 gas / speedo gauge but would like info on the other gauge as well ( tach / tilt /oil )

                        Thanks,
                        Dan

                          The older speedometer's had 2 fuel sender wires, white for European fuel tank senders and white/blue for USA senders.
                          You can connect the blue wire(backlight) to navigation light switch in boat instead of key switch and light will come when nav lights are on. DO NOT connect to both key switch and nav light switch.

                            Thank you very much, that clears up a lot.

                            I be hooking them to the nav light switch tonight.

                            Thanks,
