  • Hello and question about F25G (2017)

    Hello everyone,

As a new owner of Yamaha F25G I started read a topics here, because I couldn't find enough information about engine on the net. So, maybe someone can help me.

My configuration is Terhi Nordic 6020C and Yamaha F25 GETL with 6Y8 Tacho and 703 remote control. I was hoping to find installation manual for engine + remote + 6Y8 but this was not a case. So i started to search information on internet. Something here - something there and finally the engine is well wired and works just fine. With one exception: trim position is not shown at all (the graphic is always on low position).

    My question(a)
    1) Could it be that F25 GET (with PTT) doesn't have 'trim sender' or what ever is needed to show trim position? I cannot imagine this, but who know...

    2) On some older models, in order to see trim position, trim sender (pink or orange wire?) needs to be connected. I was thinking: this can be what I need to do. But: I cannot identify such connection and didn't found an picture for my engine.

It will be great if someone can give me a hint!

    Thanks!

p.s. please excuse my english ;-)

Probably no trim/tilt sender installed on transom mount bracket. Should be able to see it when engine is tilted all the way up in between the two transom brackets with two wires coming from it.

Thanks for reply! I'm afraid, you are right, because I could only identify power and control cables of PTT but not signal cables of trim sender, or trim sender itself.

Well, I can leave with out this feature, but it will be nice to have. Maybe is possible to upgrade this part?

Plus one on checking for any switches and wires.

Also, I don't see your engine in the US parts fisch(as your likely outside the US)

I also don't see that switch on any US models (F25's) at all either.

Someone will chime in (Boscoe), as he has access to many other model documents / part #'s, etc..

          Thanks Scott

Exactly this is a general issue I have. The engine is new (2017) and there is no reasonable documentation - or this documentation is not available for 'normal users'. I don't know how is it today, but earlier I was able to buy/get service manual with all parts, explode views etc.

My idea was to setup boot/engine by myself - because in that case, I know where is what and how it works, so I can help myself if something goes wrong on an island or on the water. This shouldn't at all be difficult with a base information. But I didn't get any useful information from my dealer :-(

          Regards

Well, the dealer SHOULD know. It's not like a 20 year old engine, with an unknown model #....

Curious, where abouts are you located?

An F25GETL is not a model that is offered here in the US. Should be the equivalent of USA model F25C.

No trim sender is used on the F25GETL.

The link below will hopefully work. It will take you to the F25GETL parts catalog. A bit of navigation is required.

I have the engine from one dealer in Germany. Very good prices, but less support. I will take a contact with importer in Switzerland, where i'm living for further questions (this one is already answered below by Boscoe: no trim sender on my model, and the model F25G is actually F25C in USA).

Thanks a lot for this answer!! Knowing now that F25G = F25C in USA help me a lot, because I didn't found F25G on english part lists and wiring diagrams. Definitively no trim sender on my engine, so this will stay 'nice to have'.

Thanks a lot on all people here, trying to help me!

The parts catalog for the F25C model is not yet shown at the Boats.net: Outboard Motors, OEM Marine Parts, Boats for Sale website. As soon as it is, if you need parts confirm that the part number for the F25G and the F25C are one and the same. You can then order from boats.net for best prices.

Without the catalog being available you can simply type the part number from the F25G parts book into the boats.net P/N search box. If they have it, their prices will be about the best around. They also make international shipments I believe.

I have the same outboard engine Yamaha F25GET. I did not find any other topic relating to this engine, so I Will borrow this thread for my question.

I bought my engine from copart and did not get any battery wires with it. I was wondering where i can connect battery wires?

I've attached picture from the left side of the engine where the hydraulic tilt motor is connected ( is this right)? There is two plastic covers with white dots. Are these the positive and negative for battery connection?

Second picture is the starter relay. I originally thought that this is the place where I could connect the battery as there is red and black wire coming to those terminals, but now I'm not so sure.

I couldn't find any service manual online for this motor, so I am confused. Does anybody else have any info?
