    Why is the marine industry

    so lacking in innovations?

    Far more outboard motors than there are light sport aircraft (LSA). Yet there are far more innovative products for LSA. Here is the latest and greatest.

    Wish we had some folks (fairdeal are you listening) who could come up with similar products for the outboard motor folks.

    why???
    that is simple.
    economy.
    if outboards fell under the same regulation as aircraft could you imagine the expense to the consumer?
    what are the requirements for a piston engine aircraft powerplant for inspection and MO??
    could we reasonably apply that to an outboard?
    could you reasonably find trained techs to do it?

      People with airplanes have very deep pockets and can pay for all the fancy gagets.

      Now I am not saying there are not boat people with deep pockets because there are...but I think there are far more outboard owners with shallow pockets like me....

        If one has deep pockets then owning a boat can help shallow those pockets a tad. Non boat owners have no idea.

        I took a guy fishing in the gulf of mexico one day. At the end of the trip he offered me ten bucks thinking he was going a long way to help me out. I told him ten bucks will not even pay for the bait he used.

          when fuel prices got so high some years ago the only way a normal working guy could go out even in there own boat was to find others to help with the cost of a days fishing.
          I finally just stayed inshore in a small 16ft.
          cost was way lower and was easier on me not being out all day in the heat
