  • Yamaha 70BETO 02 - Water pump Question?

    Hi Guys,
Just joined this forum, and i was hoping someone could help me out.
I have just replaced the impeller on my 2002 70hp 2Stroke and have noticed that there are no seals from the top of the water pump - the water pick up tube.
I spoke to a mechanic and he said that there isnt meant to be any.
From what i have found on the parts catalogue / exploded diagrams it says there are seals / water damper that goes into the water pump.
    Could someone confirm this please.
    Thanks [IMG][/IMG]

all that I have seen had seal on water tube, but not on top of water pump for the shaft.
maybe the way you asked he thought you were talking about the drive shaft

It seems mine are missing as i can only see just the water pipe with no seals on it.

should be down inside the hole, I do not remember seeing any that would stay on the tube when pulled, but I have not worked on anything over the C60 of my brothers

          16 goes in first,1 retains 16.
the other one goes to the powerhead adapter,
          you wont ever see it.

            Thanks rodbolt..
Think this could be the problem for my overheating at idle. Not getting sufficient water at low rpm.
            Cheers guys 🍺🍺

              probably not.
however any melt sign on the housing means the housing is scrap.
that motor uses a high volume low pressure set up. used only on the 70 and 60 two strokes.
