I am considering repowering my 1996 Sea Pro. It presently has a 1997 C80TLRV engine. If I purchase a new 75HP Yamaha, is it just a matter of mounting the motor on the transom and attaching the steering, tilt, starter power etc. In other words, is this a plug and play or do I have to rewire.

It is mostly plug and play. Same main wire harness, control cables, throttle/shift box, and other stuff can be used.
The motor will come with new battery cables and fittings for the control cables. New mounting bolts as well.
If you have a Yam tachometer an adapter harness might be needed.
Have you thought about the added weight of the F75? That is, will it be a problem on your particular boat?
Are you going to be happy going down in HP, even if it is just 5 HP? -
Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize the F75 weighed 118 pounds more than my C80TLRV. That is a lot of additional weight to put on the back of a little 17 foot CC. Speed is not a factor for me. As long as it will get up on a plane, I am OK. Looks like the F70 Yamaha is only 9 pounds heavier than my C80 so I might just have to look into that. Thanks for the advice.Comment
