  • Tachometer Settings

My boat has the Faria analog tachometer, which appears to be running high (WOT = a 7000 RPM reading, with no ECU limiter kicking in).

According to the Faria manual, that usually occurs when the number of alternator poles set on the back of the tach is too low.

The manual doesn't specify the correct setting for a Yamaha F60, however. Would anyone happen to know?

    12 pole or 6 pulse.

Adjusted the tach to the 12 pole setting, and the tach and speedometer stopped working. Any ideas?

What are the only two things common to both instruments?

          Positive and ground electrical connections.
