1990 ProV150 Spark Plugs

    1990 ProV150 Spark Plugs

    I bought my boat used and I'm not sure what plug to use. The motor is a 1990 ProV150LD

    I found an owners manual on line and it calls for NGK BR7HS-10. V150 Manual number LIT-18626-06-99

    I also have the engine parts schematic for the motor and that shows the plugs to be NGK B8HS-10. This is labelled PROV150LD-1990.

    I was looking up the proper torque for the plugs and I noticed the discrepancy.

    If anyone can tell me which is the proper plug and and the proper torque it would be much appreciated.

    **I checked the parts tab at the top of the page and it is the same schematic I have downloaded, so I am confident the B8HS-10 is the proper plug and I suspect I do not have the proper owners manual.**

    B8 are the ones,use BR8 if you have any electronics onboard.

        Thanks for the reply and offering up the link, but my motor is a 1990 and this only goes back to 1998.

          I have a couple fish finders and on my boat or are you referring to a different type of "electronics"?

            Of course! .... I had another link and that one went away..

            If you can find a similar engine and spark plug, the torque should be the same.

            Sometimes the torque is imprinted on the head.

            Or, just good and snug will do it....

            Its probably VERY worth your while to just get a SHOP MANUAL if you plan on keeping it...

            I keep a SHOP MANUAL, PDF file on this laptop. And a paper Owners Manual AND Yamaha SHOP manual on board in sealed freezer bags should I need it...

              Good point, any ideas of a trusted site to get one from? Every time I google it I end up at a site that feels like a scam.

                Yamaha manuals are pretty much based for folks with a bit of experience and not really made for the backyardian.

                Seloc, Clymer or any of the big name manuals should be good...

                  BR8 spark EMI dampining.

                  I guess you never listened to the radio in an MG midget with no resistor plugs.

                    nope, more of a muscle car guy…V8, 400+HP, and letting the sweet whomp of the cam replace the radio….

                    I'll go with the BR's…anyone need some B8HS-10's?

                            glad we could be of some assistance.
                            the amount of lack of knowledge/experience in the marine field is bad.
                            some of us are trained techs, some just have had experience.
                            to my knowledge none me included don't get a dime. we just seem to waste time .
