  • Fuel Valve

    1994 Yamaha 225 TXRS

Is this Fuel Valve that I highlighted supposed to be open or closed? Also, what is the purpose of it?

    Thanks!

My first thought when looking at the illustration was damn, Yamaha sure does like to use a lot of parts. Their thinking seems to be "If three parts are needed to do a particular job then the use of six parts will be just right."

Anyhoo, the valve is normally closed. It is opened if and when needed for an emergency start. It feeds fuel directly to the number one and two cylinder tracts.

yep, and wait until you get to do the carbs on a triple . took me 2 days.

the valve is normally closed but the electric pump should run anytime the key is on.

Thank you for the replies. I just just cleaned and rebuilt the carbs, replaced fuel lines and rebuilt the electric pump. The valve has always been closed, but was curious as to what it did and why.
