    is this supposed to be made like this?

    I'm setting the oil pump link adjustment on my 2004 90tlrc 2 stroke. this part and the carb linkage at the oil pump were not getting along very well. because this part has a obvious separation the threaded end on the carb linkage has lots of slack when inserted in the part as you might imagine. I cannot even tighten the nut on the linkage. is the part broken or what?...Thanks

    I am guessing that your part is broken.

      It is broken alright. It's Yamaha oem # 6H1-41237-00-00 JOINT,LINK 2

          I have seen this a few times, they simply split in half.

          I just place the halves together (assuming no thread damage) and put one or two small cable ties around them, and adjust up.

          Depending on your level of paranoia I'd put a cable tie on a new clip as well.

            this is a most critical connector and I will not Obama rig this piece. I ordered it from my local Yamaha dealer from which I purchased my 2004 G3 boat with matching 90 2 stoker. I also reminded them how in the world could they miss this connector on their visual inspection of, "Quote", "All the critical parts we can visual". So they charged me vendor cost on the part. I ordered 2.

              Not quite as critical as one may think if oil pump goes full output when it comes loose from linkage.
              But good to hear you got a discount

                  Let me try again,
                  Yamahas fail safe is to go full on when the linkage comes off from what all I have read.
                  1st thing to look for is broken linkage when it is using too much oil
