Here is my problem .Got boat , motor is on 18 foot maxum. Here is my problem . Motor will start up and idle fine. Warms up and go to put in gear and try to go and doesn't want to go. I have trim set on 3 sputters won't go rpm 1200. I trim motor up to 4 to 5, wa la it starts to take off then full power trim motor down to 2.5 to 3.0 runs fine 5400 rpms ran for 30 min no problems, go to slow down trim still same 2.5 to 3.0, slow down to 2000 rpms then try to throttle up motor won't go but if I trim motor up while it won't go it starts to pick up full rpms and trim motor back down to 2.5 to 3 runs great but every time I slow down to speed up it won't go unless I trim motor up. I changed plugs, fuel, fuel filter, impeller, checked spark no leaks,checked wires etc. anyone that can help will be greatly appreciated.

Could this be a float problem on carbs if anyone can send me info on how to ck to see if floats are set correctly. Thanks again for any help. -
My 94 70 hp did the same thing this year one of the carburetors had a bad needle and was just dumping fuel. When I trimmed up the extra fuel pour out and run like a raped ape. Hope this helps you.Comment
