  • Trim/Tilt sensor location

Having a problem with the trim gauge on my 99 Grady. Its powered by a 150 Ox66 equipped with digital gauges. While out fishing over the weekend I noticed the trim gauge, bar type display inside the RPM gauge intermittently would not return to 1 bar when the engine was trimmed all the down.
When the boat is parked I tilt the motor all the way up to keep the lower unit out of the water. Today I took the boat for a spin, and noticed the trim gauge was showing all the way up ( full bars). Tilt/Trim works fine from the throttle control and the engine cowling. Not sure if the sensor is stuck, or even where its located. Is this a common problem in a salt water environment? Any advise is much appreciated

    Thanks
    Mike

Yes it's a common issue, especially in salt water, trim the engine all the way up, and look inside the clamp bracket, you will see it on the starboard side just under the power head
