I have twin 4 stroke 225 TXR engines(2006) . Both use the same fuel tank. Only the port side engine has raw sea water getting into the VST Tank from the vent hose on the top. The salt clogs the pickup screen on the high pressure pump at the bottom. I did change the pressure relief valve, and I may have put in on incorrectly, in the wrong direction. That seems to be the only place where vacuum comes into contact with the raw water for the fuel cooler. I have pressure checked the fuel cooler, and it is completely tight, no leaks. A mechanic suggested I bore scope the engine to see if the raw water has eaten thru the block somewhere or bad head gasket casing unusual vacuum. I have the relief valve assembly and the orifice, Air Vent completely corroded and need to be replaced. Can you tell me if you have heard of raw water getting into the VST thru the vacuum lines and what I can do to fix?

That is not entirely true. I do find some small amounts of water in the seperator, less than 4-5oz in a yamaha separator. I'm going to hookup a separate fuel tank and run it this weekend. I will pull the vst off and see what I got.Comment

there is NO way to place seawater into the VST. not gonna happen UNLESS you hooked the tell tale water to the fuel side of the fuel cooler.
the vent at the top of the VST goes to the top of the air box.
now its entirely possible one fuel draw tube sits slightly lower in the fuel tank.Comment

225TRX 4 stroke vent hoses got junk in them
Got a pair of 225hp 4 stroke, 2006. Port engine is clean. Stb engine has had ongoing clogging of the screen on the pump inside the VST. White power like substance clogs the screen. I thought salt water was getting in there. The entire vent side hoses are full of crud are the pressure relieve valve looks like the insides have corroded from salt water. 2nd time I have to replace it. The vent hoses go to the top of the VST. Where they enter the tank, aluminum is corroding. Can anyone weigh in and tell me there experience?

the VST vent line goes to the upper port side of the intake air box.
