  • Power Trim Guage Question

I have a 2011 F70LA and would like to add a trim meter. I see the pink and black wires coming from the trim sensor and can measure and change in resistance when I actuate the trim sensor. The wires are connected to another red black pair via a plug and go into a bundle of wires in the engine. The only pink wire I find under the console is not the one leaving the trim sensor as I don't see a change in resistance when activating the sensor. How can I verify that my trim sensor wires are even making it to the console? Do they go to the control box before going to the console? Should I be looking for a pink wire at my console? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

trim sensor wires DO NOT go to the console/controls via the 10 pin main harness.
    its a separate harness.

rodbolt17 The trim sensor wires go into a wiring harness # 6CJ-82590-00. That's as far as I can trace them. Where would the other harness plug into the trim wires and how many wires and color is the other harness? The only pink wire I see under the console I'm assuming is the oil alarm wire is that correct. Would it be OK to tap into the trim sensor wires right where they enter into the cowling and run a separate pair of wires up to the console?

I am only going to tell you one more time, NO trim send wires are in the 10 pin harness.
buy a service manual and trace them if you do not believe me.

that pink wire in the 10 pin is for alarm AUDIBLE.

there are NO other alarm wires in the ten pin.
that is part of the trim/warning harness.

There is a four pin nylon connector in your engine pan. The wire colors are pink, pink/white and pink/black. The pink wire carries the sender information.

Yamaha sells a trim/oil harness that plugs into that connector at one end and plugs into stuff at the other end up at the dash.

If your boat does not have the trim/oil harness installed you can search until hell freezes over and you won't be finding a pink trim sender wire up at the dash.
