  • 1989 yamaha 70etlf outboard

    Im having issues with my 1989 yamaha 70etlf outboard. i have cleaned all the wires and grounds but the little wire that comes out of the power wire from the battery keeps blowing the 10amp fuse that comes off that wire. i cant figure it out.

    Well you could try disconnecting things one at a time that are part of the circuit until the fuse no longer blows to isolate your problem.

      Thats what ive been doing on all the solenoids i replaced the starter solenoid also just wasnt sure if it ran to something that commonly fails.

        Tried disconnecting the main harness? Do you have any other electronics running off key switch yellow positive or the red wire going to the front of the boat?

          no nothing to the front and cleaned the main harness from ignition was all gooped up from sitting to long. could it be a bad ground or bad wire somewhere?

            When exactly does the fuse pop? what is the charging voltage?

              It Pops everytime i turn the key to on. Not sure just a 10amp buss fuse.

                thanks for the help i figured out by following every wire from the ignition that some idiot that owned the boat before me connected a power to a ground for some reason.
