    Hello:

    I have a center console with twin 2013 F250 Four Strokes. I have noticed that at high speeds > 2500-3000 RPM the port motor kind of twitches sideways rhythmically. The starboard motor doesn't show this and just hums along perfectly.

    Any ideas as to what might cause this?

    How many steering cylinders are used on your boat?

    If a single cylinder, to which motor is the hydraulic steering cylinder attached? Usually it is the starboard motor. The port motor is connected to the starboard motor by a tie bar. Perhaps there is more slop in the tiebar than there is in the steering cylinder.

    Just a wild eyed guess on my part however.

      Yes...it's a single cylinder but it's attached to the port motor, the one that twitches.

      Assuming the linkage is the issue here, how can this be remedied? I understand excessive tightening of connecting bolts can affect steering performance.

      Any ideas would be appreciated.

        grab the motor by the back.
        shake it side to side.
        if it shakes the cyl has air in it and needs to be bled.
        move the trim tabs slightly.
        move the right hand rotation tab to the right and the left hand rotation to the left.

          Had it checked and effectively there's air on the cylinder....

          will let you guys know how it goes.
