  • Enrichment Valve....out of ideas

    Hey Guys

I rebuilt the carbs on my 04' F90 a few months ago and the boat has run really well. However, I always suspected the enrichment system was not right because it didn't run great until it warmed up.....it never has.

When I rebuilt the carbs, I did the full test on the valves both in the factory manual, and the seloc to make sure they were extending properly, all looked good.

I got stranded at the dock Saturday morning, it was chilly.

So, I tested the the enrichment system by taking the 2 valves off and pressing my finger over the top of the housing (making sure it sealed). I had my wife start it and it ran excellent....they way it really should when cold. I could see the fuel pulsing through the line to the other carb (I replaced my all my fuel line with the clear stuff).

Put the valves back on and had the same problems!

So, this is what I know: There is not nearly enough fuel going through the enrichment system. Yet the valve pass the tests. Any Ideas?

Other than a massive vacuum leak around the valves, I don't know what could cause this. Both valves work, open and close by the same amounts at the same rate....etc. Could they both be bad? Really expensive to guess wrong and replace them if not needed.

    Thanks, Tim
