  • 07 F250 - NEMA 2000 Setup

    Good Evening,
Ran a search but did not find an answer. I happened to find one thread but not what I was looking for. I just purchased a new boat(to me) with a 07 f250tur and a raymarine mfd classic. I have been reading and trying to find out exactly what I would need to network the two systems.

From what I understand 06 and newer are 2k compliant. so interfacing with the mfd should not be an issue. I understand that I cannot go directly from the ecm to the mfd. So here are my questions.

Typically ( I understand every boat/system could be different) with square command link gauges (2) does the information from the ecm travel from the motor to the gauges in its own separate cable? Or Typically would it travel to a Yamaha command link junction box then to the gauges? Or would I need to route a separate cable from a connector on the motor forward to a junction of some sort?
*** Again this is just research... I have yet to physically see what my set up is.***

Once the information is secured forward in a junction of some sort I would need to take that and transfer it from Yamaha to Raymarine. How is this done? I have read that Raymarine uses Seatalkng which is my understanding is their version of a nema2k network.

I am just looking for a basic nema2k diagram/setup with necessary parts to complete it.

I thank you for your time for reading.
    any input is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Chris

In early F250's (NMEA compatible ones of course) data is provided by the motor to what is referred to as a Command Link hub.

If you have Command Link gauges they will be connected to the Yamaha hub.

Yamaha provides a device referred to as a Gateway. It plugs into the Yamaha hub at one end. At the other end it plugs into an NMEA 2000 network. That network will be connected to your MFD.

Graphically, here is what it might look like. Without the Gateway.
