    Checking oil pressure yamaha 2 strokes

    Hello everybody,

    ?
    I had a problem, there's a strange noize coming from motor, smoking excessively, and some pressure and smoke coming out water, the temperature in the motor is high tan ever but there isn't any alarme on gauge.

    I would like check/test the oil pressure on my Yamaha 50HP 2 Strokes, so how can I do it ??

    oil pressure on a 2 stroke !?!?

    What model is you motor?

    If a 2 strk premix or autolube/precision blend?

    I recommend a compression or diferencial/leakdown test on cylinders and check the thermostat

      Is a 2 stroke autolube 50 HP GETOL.

        Oil pressure in an autolube Yamaha is based on gravity. So, pressure of oil to the pump will be a function on the height of the outlet of the oil tank above the inlet to the pump.

        Given that the tank is just above the oil pump there won't be much oil pressure. I doubt that it could be measured if someone wanted to.

        Too much oil smoke could mean the oil linkage rod has broken in which case the pump defaults to the maximum oiling condition.

        I have not a clue about any strange noise.

        What actual temperature are you seeing on a temperature gauge?

        But as Mr. Almetelo suggests, it would be beneficial to perform a compression check to verify the condition of the pistons, rings and combustion chamber.

        The thermoswitch can be tested by following the test procedure prescribed in the Yamaha service manual.

          see those item 46's?
          they are inline check valves set about 2 PSI or so.
          means about the highest oil pressure between the pump and the valve will be about 2 PSI.

            Hello,

            I will do it soon as possible may be next weekend.

            But I'm very concerned because the boat lose power when he runs higly at 4000 rpm's and the engine turns off . So I guess the problem could be poor lubrication that caused probably a damaged piston and or a damaged cylinder with some scratches lets see...
            Last weekend the thank oil was very low and the buzzer alarme didn't sound, only the midle bar was flashing...may be there's another problem and the temperatur was fine on gauge.
