  • Fuel realted power loss - F115

Coming home today (we made it in slowly), I experience power loss and a stall. After checking everything I could think of, I pumped the primer bulb and the engine restarted.

The only way we made it in was to pump the primer bulb every 10-15 minutes. If I didn't, the motor would almost stall. When it was starting to stall, we had a few seconds to pump the fuel bulb and it would run again. I could not get up onto plane as that took me back to a fuel starvation and stall condition.

So, my mechanic is out with the holiday. I do plan on taking it in.
I just want to hear any theories on what it might be?

    The fuel pump?

Luckily we had already run ~55 miles on the day with no problems and we ended up more just behind schedule.

I would start with the fuel pump.

If someone pumped the primer ball continuously you might have been able to return at speed. The primer ball can take the place of the fuel pump.

and I would check the oil.
a bad diaphragm will fill the crankcase with gas.

Yes, it could be the VST screen. If it is plugged or restricted you will loose all open throttle power.

mine is a 2005 4 stroke and I had the same issue. replace the external filter and cleaned the fuel injectors and haven't had an issue since.

          I used this method https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aT4S1lIBAY

The small spring in the low pressure fuel pump had broken into three pieces. This rendered it mostly useless, so it was the fuel pump.

IF I was a good man

I would train more flying monkeys than I do.

              who gets it ???

but IF you detail the issue some of us with a year or so experience may know which way to steer you.
