  • waverunner stabalizer

    I read a thread about replacing the mounting bracket for the stabilizer on my waverunner. good info but my question is how do get behind the gunnel of the waverunner to put the bracket on? that space is filled with foam and I cant see how to get behind it to put the bracket on. please help season is almost over and we cant ride our waverunner without this stabilizer.

        No offense. Just thought you might get a better/faster answer if you were in the right place.

          Its probably either just screwed on from the outside (no nuts). If equipped with nuts (you didn't post a year, model # etc to look up parts above) there may be nuts or a plate foamed in there already.

          If you post the model, year, etc, it can be looked up and see what's on the other side of those screws..

            Found your other thread for your 2001 XL 800;

            http://www.yamahaoutboardparts.com/f...f-th17005.html

            And the parts thread;

            http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...00Z/parts.html

            I couldn't find what's inside the hull.

            From reading your ORIGINAL post, you'll likely have to trim some foam out, repair or replace your part and just re-foam the area..

            In the future, if you can keep it on ONE THREAD, it would be much easier trying to help..

                Did you read my above post?

                Here it is again; you'll likely have to trim some foam out, repair or replace your part and just re-foam the area..

                Its obviously foamed after part of it (what your trying to fix) is assembled at the factory. Start trimming!

I understand I have to trim some foam out but how to I get at that foam to trim it out? is there a way to get behind the hull of the wave runner to trim the foam out is the question I am asking. I appreciate everyones help I am just gonna bring my wave runner to a dealer and let them fix it.

                    Its just foam. You can use a sharp steak knife, shouldn't be any wiring back there..
