I've got a 97 30hp two stroke that had a bad water pump. The water passages were blocked so during the water pump servicing I was forcing air and water through the water tube to clear the line all the way through the thermostat and tell tale. My problem now is that during the flushing of the system somehow one of the two water tube seals which fit into the midsection of the motor on the top of the water tube, the very top seal came loose and fell out of the midsection. This set up on this motor has two rubber boot seals on top of the water tube. The bottom seal fits flush against the opening then there is a 1" space then there is another water tube seal that the water tube fits into. This is the seal that came loose. I have no access to this seal because it is behind a closed fitting. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to reinstall the top seal. During this whole procedure, I don't know how that seal came loose, it must have pulled loose and flushed out later thru another small opening in the mid section.

The motor is a 97 30hp two stroke model # ELRV. Here is a link to the parts diagram for this seal.

In the diagram, the seal is #2. The part # for this seal is 6J8-44366-00-00. This diagram doesn't really show it, but these two seals on top of the water tube are behind a metal port hole in the midsection of the motor. I only have access to this bottom seal, which is still in place. It is the seal that belongs on the very top of the water tube which came loose and I can't figure out how to gain access to put it in place. -

From what I been seeing on other motors is that most water tubes only have one seal on top where it passes into the mid section of the motor. It sure looks like a poor set up with two seals like I have. I wonder if rodbolt17 has ever ran into some thing like this.Comment

best I remember the upper tube seal fits in the EX tube with two little tits going into 2 little holes.
that tube is bolted to the powerhead and you have to pull the powerhead to access it.Comment

Thanks for the reply rodbolt17, since I have nothing to loose, I think I might try to see about some how griping #2 seal with a bent tong hemostat, then reaching over the metal plate that the water tube passes thru, then try to insert tube thru the Wall and into the now #2 seal on the other side witch is being held by the hemostat. I think its going to be a long shot for this to work, because that #2 seal has that little rubber nib on it that is made to be pressed hard into a fitting on the transition behind the wall, also all this must happen working thru a small hole right above the hole that the water tube pass thru.
If all this fails then I just go at it from the top down by removing the powerhead.Comment
