Powerhead stuck on 55 hp 1995 mod
Hello all!
Like many other owners of older Yamaha outboard engines (it seems), I am forced to replace the "shift rod" because it is very corroded and it is too weak to stay in its correct position when shifting gear. In order to do this, however, I have to remove the powerhead. So I have now unscrewed the eight bolts holding the powerhead to the lower cowling (?). When I pull it, it is "wobbling"; it does not feel "corroded stuck" but it feels like something still holds it stuck. This may be two "steering bolts" (not sure of the english term here), but I find it a bit strange that these should be so resilient.
So, I am very interested in hearing any advice, especially from others who have also removed the powerhead
