  • tilt rod leak

I've bought a 2004 F150TXRC and the tilt rod is leaking. I've got no Yamaha dealer close by. Can the tilt rod assembly be taken apart to replace the seals? Can the tilt rod end cap also be replaced? I looks like someone tried to remove it with a punch instead of a spanner wrench and I'd like to replace the end cap also if sold as a separate unit and easily changeable.

Easily is in the eye of the mechanic.

Use the correct removal tool, use rodbolts PVC trick, relieve the system of pressure and the cap should simply unscrew. At the worst some heat on the cylinder and dry ice on the cap should cause it to unloosen.

Part number for the replacement cap is 64E-43811-02-00. Be prepared to be bent over when you hand them your charge card.
