  • need help replacing gear pump assembly

I am replacing the gear pump assembly on my VX150TLRZ trim and tilt unit. I didn't get a chance to see how a couple of parts were positioned in unit. During disassembly the parts fell out.
look at number #27 (pin Part number 64E-4381G-00-00) and number #28 (ball Part number 6E5-43858-00-00).

I need to know if the pin #27 inserts into valve seat #29 and the ball #28 is inserted on the outside of the valve with pin?

    ***OR***

Does the ball #28 go inside the valve seat #29 and then the pin #27 holds the ball inside the valve seat?

Also...does the valve seat insert into the main unit housing with the pin towards the main housing or towards the gear pump?

and now you know why dealerships charge 85 + per hour.
had you spent a few days traveling and a week at school you you would have this info.

this unit is a PITA and I really cant help online.

    but the pictures are there.

yamahas manual on that unit is sketchy at best.
the diagrams in the drive system manual are slightly better.
I think the OMC manuals for the fast track unit may be better.
its the same unit with replaceable wear pads.
its funny but on that same showa unit some manuals have the back up rings on top of the piston orings and some show it below the orings.

This sucks. The experts know how it goes but they just choose to hire 5 year old artists to make illustrations. Guess I'll call Yammie and see where that takes me.

I posted the pic as it may be easier to figure out. I suspect it would only go together one way.

The below diagram looks pretty basic. Kinda looks like part #27, locks things in. Peeking into that machined hole (where everything resides) I would think should help clear things up (maybe not..)
