1985 90hp missing problem

1985 90 hp - trying to troubleshoot running problem. Starts and runs great until either under a heavy load and/or when it gets warm then acts like its missing one or two of the cylinders. Max RPM flucuates bewtween 2000 and 3500. Spark - new plugs, coils, brain box. Seems to be getting correct spark. Fuel - clean tank, line, filter, carbs, pump. I had one of my kids driving so I could try and troublehsoot under power. Took off air cleaner box and was abel to adjust butterfly valve that comes from the electric choke. It was 90 degrees to carb face and when I adjusted it by hand to about 30-45 degrees facing down, away we went. Choke soloniod bad?

carbs are dirty/clogged.
and now the choke linkage is screwed up.
normal running its supposed to be horizontal.
fully closed for choke on and horizontal when running.
by dinking up the linkage your forcing a dirty carb to run ric
