  • flooding problem in new 6hp yamaha

This 6hp 4cycle Yamaha is 3 months old (the new one with the white cover). I use the built-in tank. The needle valve often now does not close properly. If I do not shut off the fuel valve, sometimes so much fuel runs into the cylinder that it has a liquid lock and can not be turned over. When it runs and the float/needle hangs up, the engine will flood in about 6 seconds when running full throttle and die. I take the carb apart and NOTHING seems to be wrong with it, but surely is. The Yamaha dealer here charged me $60 for transport, but did not fix anything. Motor ran fine for couple of days - then same problem. it does seem to be getting worse actually. HELP!!

Well, if it ran good for several days, then the float level must be set correctly, so that only leaves the float needle or seat that is faulty....there should be a small screw that holds that float pin in place and the pin sits in a groove....and it needs to be put together carefully to avoid the float hanging up....which sounds like what's happening....best take it apart and double check your assembly....
