I have 2004 225 EF1 V MAX RPM GAUGE NOT WORKING. Change the gauge and have 12 volts and a good ground, but still not work?

Yamaha analog or multifunction type or non-Yamaha type?
Are you saying that when you apply 12 volt positive to the yellow wire and a ground to the black wire (assuming it is a Yam tachometer) that absolutely nothing happens?
And that when you replaced the gauge still nothing happens?
Have you verified that the wiring is in good working order?
