  • 15HP 2-Stroke Charging System

I have a 15FMH which is the international version of the F15MH in the US. One of the differences is that the 15FMH has the regulator/rectifier already installed and goes to a connector on the front of the outboard called a 2P connector.

    Couple of questions,

    1) Can I just go from this connector to a 12v battery?
    2) Where can I get the connector for it, as all I can find in the US is the complete rectifier/regulator kit.

On another not is it possible to add electric start to the 15? Make it easier for my kids to start it.

Track the two pin connector lead back to the rectifier/regulator. Do you see a red lead (with female bullet connector) and a black lead with a ring terminal attached to the block?

Is your two pin connector lead attached to the red wire and the black wire/block?

Can you take a photo of the two pin connector?

Almetelo has more international data than I/we do, given that we have almost known. Maybe he has a part number for a harness that connects to the connector at the front of your motor and which runs to the battery.

Sorry it has taken a while to respond. The regulator has two green wires coming from it, but there is also a red and a black, the black goes to the block, the Red is not connected. The two green wires go to the connector at the front of the engine. I am assuming the green is AC, can I remove them and put the red and black to the front connector?

The red and the black are the wire colours that are used to charge a battery. The battery ground wire would attach to the block some where whereas the battery positive wire would attach to the red wire coming from the rectifier/regulator. Through a fuse or circuit breaker of course.

The two pin connector that your motor has is unique to a 15 HP that is distributed in Europe. I have no idea what the connector is for.

Maybe Mr. Bolt, Almetelo or someone else will care to opine as to what this might be for or how it is used.
