  • F90 Carb - Need to call in the Pros

    I'm working on a 2003 F90 TLRC, the plate says 2003 even though I think it's a 2004 model

So, I was into my carbs and noticed something in the diagram, part #2,is an oring (see link 1). It looks like someone put the wrong kit in this thing before I had it. Mine has a flat piece of rubber under the top plate. Such as in this aftermarket repair kit (see link 2)

    Link 1:

    Link 2:

    Carburetor Kit - Sierra

So here is my question, can one of you guys that have done these 4 stroke carbs before verify this for me before I spend $200 on the OEM factory kits. Specifically that there is a oring in the top section and not a flat piece of rubber.

    Thanks, Tim

Part #2 on the Yamaha parts fisch specifically states "O-ring".

Part #5, same parts fisch states "gasket".

Seems to me Yamaha is being pretty specific re "O-ring" vs "gasket" and it likely is supposed to be an O-ring.

          Inducted:

I'm aware that is correct for the Sierra kit, but if you bought the factory kit would it be an "oring" like the on the float bowl or a flat piece of rubber the same shape as the top.

The kit is actually for a 2002 F100, the the top oring is the same part number as the 2004 so it is the right sierra part, but is that what the Yamaha part looks like.

So, you saying they're the same? In link 2 the flat piece of rubber that is front center does not look like, part #2 from the yamaha kit....one is a thin oring that goes around the perimeter, the other covers the whole thing......is it just a bad picture?

          Thanks guys!!!

Looks like ones a large flat gasket, the other, obviously an o-ring.

They both, in this case, serve the same purpose, simply just sealing up that top plate.. IMO, shouldn't be an issue

Every yamaha carb that I've taken apart that has that flat piece of metal on top of the carb that is held on by 3 screws has a flat rubber gasket underneath the piece of metal.

TLRC says it is a 2004
                  probably manufactured in 2003

but that does not help with your question, sorry

I think o ring would need a groove

The factor manual clearly shows a flat rubber gasket.

I thought there was a groove, after pulling them out of the dip, I see not its not really what I thought.....thanks!

I got these weird bubbles in the top gasket, which is what got me questioning the whole thing. Have you guys ever seen this?

                      why buy a kit?
                      simply order what you need.
those kits are stupidly expensive and still wont have everything you may need.

I agree. Those kits from Yamaha are stupidly expensive. Just go to boats.net and order what you need.
