  • 225TXRP: do I need who impeller kit or just impeller?

    From my other posts...

Getting all the info together on the parts to buy. As mentioned before the entire Pressure Control Valve kit is the way to go on this older engine that has been sitting a few years...

does the same logic hold true for the impeller kit or is that to fix a peticular issue?

We have not dropped the lower unit let to examine but know a new impeller at the least is going to be added the shopping car. If we are "doing the right thing" and getting all recommended parts...kit or not?

To do it "right" and get the most performance out of it, IMO, I'd pay extra for a kit.

The SS base and SS cup will be brand new and not cause any un-necessary wear to the impellor to save a coule of bucks.

That kit also come with with the alignment pins, the 4 bolts, and the "key way" as well.

I always put in the kit, just s few dollars more and it includes everything but the plastic housing. if that shows signs of melting then it has to be purchased separately.

the wear plate and cup get grooved and do not seal well. They are what the rubber impeller seal against
