  • 1996 C115 Motor Issue

I bought the boat approximately 7 months ago and have been redoing it as time and money have allowed. I have gotten it to the point that I would like to fish it for a period of time before taking on extensive deck and fiberglass projects. The motor has ran great on certain trips and not at all on others. Most recently I took it out to a lake to test whether I had a fuel or internal tank issue by running the motor off of an external tank sitting on the floor. The motor started right up and idled with no issue. After about 10 minutes of letting it idle to see if it was going to stay running I decided to take it out. I idled down the canal at a fast idle with no issues. Once on the lake I went to get on plane and the motor hesitated. I put it back into neutral and revved it for a few seconds to see if it was going to stay running before venturing too far out into the lake. It did fine so I decided to try again. The boat jumped up on plane with no issue. I then ran for about 10-15 minutes at about 35mph. I was able to increase and decrease the speed with no problems. I then came off of plane and idled for about 5 minutes. I went to get back up on plane and the motor tried to shut off when it reached about 2000rpms. I tried several more times with no success and the motor actually shutting off one time. At this point I decided to call it a day before I was left stranded on the lake. The boat idled back to the ramp with no more issues. As long as I didn't try to fast idle. Any ideas or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Any more information needed just ask. Thank you in advance for all of your help.

need to test alarm system to see if it functions
Could be you were in a RPM reduction mode due to over heat and the buzzer did not sound like it should

sounds like a lack of fuel in the intake manifold.
dirty carbs, weak fuel pump or a restriction or an air leak in the suction side.

The carbs were rebuilt about 2 weeks ago. The fuel pump was replaced at the same time. I have not looked at the river item you suggested.
